Opening: Field Crop Manager

Location: Hanover, VA

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Equipment Maintenance, or related/equivalent plus 2 years of experience as a Field Crop Manager, Machinery Operator, or related. Employer will accept a 3-year bachelor’s degree plus 1 additional year of experience in lieu of a 4-year bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities: Supervise all phases of crop production including planting, irrigation, fertilizing, grading, and harvesting for crops including corn, soybeans, and small grains. Perform field operations including land prep, planting, spraying, crop care, and harvesting. Operate and maintain farming machinery and equipment. Assess and manage equipment repair needs and replacement. Conduct inspections to evaluate the maintenance conditions of the farms facilities. Perform routine soil testing to optimize high-quality crop production and protect the environment. Direct and oversee field workers in daily operations. Record operations and production data and prepare financial and operational reports. Analyze farm practices, seasonal forecasts, and market trends to develop strategic production plans and propose necessary procedural changes. Stay abreast of changes in agricultural disease management. Ensure compliance with governmental regulations. Enforce safety and health standards/practices.
